Major Train Stations In Vietnam

Vietnam Railways operates Reunification express trains running from Hanoi to Saigon and vice versa. These trains start either from Hanoi or from Ho Chi Minh City. Below is the list of the major train stations in Vietnam:

Hanoi train station

    • Hanoi Train Station:
      Hanoi train station is one of the main train stations on the North–South railway line in Vietnam. Hanoi train station has two gates: The main one – “A Station” is located at 120 Le Duan street, Hanoi. This gate is for South-bound train. And the other one “B Station” is located at Tran Quy Cap street. The train services here are for the north-west routes including Lao Cai, from which you can reach Sapa and all North-bound trains leave from there as well.

    • Lao Cai Train Station:
      Lao Cai train station is the last station of the Hanoi-Lao Cai railway line. It serves the border town of Lao Cai, in Lao Cai Province. There are several daily trains running between Hanoi and Lao Cai. If you want to visit Sapa, the best way to get there is to take a night train from Hanoi to Lao Cai. Sapa is about 38 km from Lao Cai train station and you can easily take a car or a bus to get there.

    • Haiphong Train Station:
      Hai Phong train station is one of the main train stations on the Hanoi–Hai Phong railway line in Vietnam. It serves the city of Hai Phong. There are few daily trains from Hai Phong to Hanoi and vice versa.

    • Phu Ly Train Station:
      Phu Ly train station is on the North–South Railway line in Vietnam. It serves the city of Phu Ly in Ha Nam province. This station is popular for local tourists only.

    • Nam Dinh Train Station:
      Nam Dinh train station is on the North–South Railway line in Vietnam. It serves the city of Nam Dinh city in Nam Dinh province. This station is popular for local tourists only.

    • Thanh Hoa Train Station:
      Thanh Hoa train station is relatively modern comparing to other stations in the North of Vietnam, which is equipped with comfortable guest room with a capacity of 100 seats; convenient ticket booths and soft drink store selling most of the varieties of drink and snack like fresh bread and potato chips. If you plan to go to Sam Son Beach, you may find it very convenient since the station organizes a direct bus routine to the destination, with many trips per day at a surprising cheap fare of only VND 5,000 (around US 25 cent). From this station, you may travel to top destinations of Vietnam like Ninh Binh, Hanoi in the North; Hue, Da Nang in the Central; Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City in the South.

    • Vinh Train Station:
      Vinh train station was heavily invested by French Colonial to be one of the five key railways in Indochina. It is on the North-South Railway line in Vietnam and serves the city of Vinh, the provincial capital of Nghe An province.

    • Dong Hoi Train Station:
      Dong Hoi train station is a spacious modern station in the Central of Vietnam that offers daily routine connecting the North and the South. Dong Hoi is a starting point if you want to visit Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in the nearby area.

    • Dong Ha Train Station:
      Dong Ha train station is located right inside the heart of Dong Ha City. It is an important access point to many attractions of Quang Tri Province. The station is on the main north-south railway line between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

    • Hue Train Station:
      Hue train station lays on the straight railways from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, built by the French Colonials in 1906 to transfer goods from the South to the North. Hue is an express stop for the train trips from Hanoi to Saigon or vice versa.

    • Da Nang Train Station:
      Danang train station is one of the main train stations on the North-South railway line  and one of the five largest stations in Vietnam. From Da Nang, you can easy take a train to Hue, Hanoi in the North; Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh city in the South.

  • Tam Ky Train Station:
    Tam Ky train station is one of the main railway stations on the North-South Railway line in Vietnam. It serves the city of Tam Ky in Quang Nam province.

    • Quang Ngai Train Station:
      Quang Ngai train station is one of the main railway stations on the North-South Railway line in Vietnam. It serves the city of Quang Ngai, lying 1.5 kilometers west of the main centre.

    • Tuy Hoa Train Station:
      Tuy Hoa train station is a regular stop on the Reunification Express Train, with regular daily departures heading south to Ho Chi Minh City and north to Hanoi. The train is straightforward and far less puzzling than Tuy Hoa’s buses.

      Nha Trang train station is very close to the city center. Nha Trang is a stop on the main railway-line between Hanoi capital in the North and Ho Chi Minh City in the South.

    • Binh Thuan Train Station:
      Bình Thuận train station (former name is Muong Man train station) is one of the main train stations on the North-South Railway line in Vietnam. It serves the city of Phan Thiet. Phan Thiet has its own station (Phan Thiet train station), but it is not located on the main North-South Railway.
